Science Fun Week March 2007
Science Fun Week 2007
These are just some of the activities during Science Fun Week. We had visits from parents and friends from many branches of science. We had doctors, an opthalmic surgeon, an obstetric surgeon, a professor of pharmacognosy, visitors from the charity Muscular Dystrophy, a presentation on how the brain works and memory skills, we learnt about the aseptic unit at Great Ormond Street Hospital, A level chemistry students from Graveney wowed Year 6 with their knowledge and presentation skills, we even tried our hands at designing a school! We had visits from the zoologist Dr Terry Mills and a presentation from Glaxo Smith Kline and went to Wandsworth Common with London Parks to age trees.Reception learnt about motorbikes and Years 1& 2 cooked.Teachers planned a variety of investigations including Bubble-making, Flight, Mechanisms, the Senses and Year 4 made a DVD of the week! The Family Challenge was great fun and only one or two people thought that the team that won (Year 5&6 teachers) had inside knowledge-which they didn't! The children certainly think it was a Science Fun Week!
