Friday 3rd July 2009

Dear Parents/Carers,
The end of this year is rapidly approaching:

  1. SPORTS DAY: Many thanks to all of you for your encouragement and support of your children on 25th June. Thanks to Emily Richardson, Morris Tolaram and all staff for organising the day, the PTA and especially Katherine Harvey and Sarah Hill for providing refreshments. Everyone had a wonderful time and the winning house was Rivers.
  2. PTA BARBEQUE AND MAMMA MIA/DISCO EVENING: Thanks to Claire Conway for organising this new event and all parents who helped on the night, cooking on the barbie, running the bar, providing salads, clearing up and especially Morris for the disco. We had a lot of fun and also raised over £400.
  3. SUMMER SHOW: ‘DREAM ON’: Our end of year performances featuring all children in Years 1-6 are rapidly approaching. Please remember that you will need to purchase tickets in advance to see the shows. They are selling out very quickly. A separate note went out on Tuesday. Please remember that you are only allowed to see your child perform once. It is something we hold very dear that every child in Y1-Y6 is part of the show. However, this means that hall space and seats are at a premium. The shows will be professionally filmed and DVDs will be available to order in the autumn term.
  4. MUNGA (Model United Nations General Assembly): Our Y6 children, Ruby S, Zoe D, Cal B, Jasmine P, Romy I, Layla B and Mae F represented Australia this year at the annual Wandsworth event. Mrs Hampson accompanied the children who discussed Children’s Rights, Health Care and Climate Change with children from 10 other Wandsworth schools. Australia and Ravenstone should be very proud of them!
  5. Y6 VOCAL ENSEMBLE: On Wednesday the Y6 Vocal Ensemble visited the Age Activity Centre, Tooting for an afternoon of entertainment and fun. Mary Hargreaves and MJ Paranzino accompanied the group who were superb!
  6. SCOOTER RACKS: I have purchased two blue racks which are being installed, one in either playground. You will need a padlock and chain to secure your child’s scooter. Please do not secure bikes to these racks.
  7. KS2 SATs: We have just received our papers back and early indications are that our Y6 children have again excelled with our best ever set of results being clearly above national standards at both Level 4 and Level 5 in all three subjects. SATs and QCA test data will be sent home, assuming they arrive and once they have been checked, with your child’s report on Wednesday 8th.
  8. SAINSBURY’S VOUCHERS: A big ‘Thank You!’ to everyone who collected vouchers this year – we raised over 52 000, which is a record. These will be used to buy 3 table tennis tables, lots of playground equipment and games and loads for the Foundation Stage. A special mention must go to Jean Hardy who counts them all!                                                                                                   Emily Richardson
  9. PACKED LUNCH ROOM: Please ensure that your child collects his/her packed lunch bags at the end of each day. In this very hot weather uneaten food/leftovers begin to smell very unpleasant very quickly.
  10. PTA SUMMER FAIR 4th JULY 1:00-4:00pm: Our main fun/fund raiser for the year is tomorrow. Please come along, spend some money and have some fun.

With Best Wishes

Alan Millington
