Dear Parents/Carers, Half term is fast approaching, the sun is shining:
1. PTA VITALITY NIGHT 6/5/11: This ladies only event was again organised by Claire Conway and was another huge success. A massive Thank You to all who came enjoyed the treatments and therapies, helped on the night etc. The event raised over £900 for the PTA coffers!
2. SPORTS NEWS: More successes: 1) SWIMMING: At the regional gala on Saturday 14th May our squad of 20 Y4/5/6 competed against four other local schools (Furzedown, Holy Ghost, Honeywell and Sacred Heart) at Putney pool. On a thrilling night our Boys were a magnificent 1st, winning every race apart from one, whilst our Girls were an amazing 2nd so both teams progress to the grand borough finals (for the third year running!) on Saturday 11/6/11. It was incredibly exciting and our whole squad were simply fantastic: a credit to themselves, their families and their school. A massive Thank You to our many vociferous supporters. 2) LONDON YOUTH GAMES: Over the years many Ravenstone pupils have represented the borough at the London Youth Games in a great variety of sports, particularly Athletics and Swimming but now for us a sporting first: Ben B (Y5) has been chosen to represent Wandsworth in sailing, Optimist class. His sister Annabel (ex-pupil) is also competing. Brilliant! 3) FOOTBALL: a) We have now finished our matches in the local Y5/6 league. We have been playing after school every Thursday. During the season over 30 Y4/5/6 boys and girls have represented Ravenstone with distinction and pride. Richard Huie
3. Y6 DIGITAL ORCHESTRA Sat 21st May: All of Y6 have been working this term on a multi-media performance of ‘lights, lasers, dance, music and video clips driven by iPads’. The astonishing performance featuring children from 4 schools took place Saturday at Beatrix Potter primary school.
4. COMEDY NIGHT: This event on 13/5/11 was organised by Katherine Harvey in aid of Spencer Lacrosse club, who coach our Y5 children every year. Arthur Smith, the ‘Bard of Balham’ again compered what was a wonderful raucous night. Many of our PTA members helped and the event raised just under £1200!
5. YAMERIGA PARTNERSHIP BADGES: These badges, designed by our children, are now on sale for £1. This buys you one and also sends one to a child in Yameriga. Available from Mary’s room.
6. WINDOW REPLACEMENT: The work is progressing very well and is due to finish this summer. May I remind all families that while we are in the middle of a building site the playground is cleared by 3:30pm and children arrive at school no earlier than 8:15am. Apologies for no assemblies last Friday but there are assemblies this Friday (Years 1/3/5).
7. HALF TERM: Finally a reminder that we break for half term this Friday 27th May and children return to school on MONDAY 6th June
