Dear Parents/Carers,
Welcome back after what I hope was a very relaxing sunny spring break. We look forward to a productive and enjoyable summer term!
1. GOLDEN AWARDS SPRING 2011: The recipients of last term’s Golden Awards for outstanding work and behaviour all term were as follows:
Reception: Holly K, Oliver P, Sam S, Anas A
Year 1: Silas S, Tom J, Jude S, Joe S
Year 2: Reuben L, Viviana C B, Zak R, Evie N
Year 3: Billy B, Rianna D-E, Jack C, Shannon D
Year 4: Elsie C, Daniel F, Leah F-B, Vicente A-S
Year 5: Abbie B, Josh W, Ben B, Olivier M
Year 6: Natalie D, Xochitl O-P, Afzaal B, Aaminah A
Many congratulations to them all.
2. EASTER RAFFLE: Thanks for your support with our annual Easter raffle in aid of Yameriga School. We raised over £150!
3. WINDOW REPLACEMENT: As you can see we are well into the programme of replacing our old windows. We have had to lock the small gate on Elmfield Rd, close to the leisure centre, and would appreciate if parents/children could use the gate which enters into the lower playground by the sports pitch, for the duration of the work. Also, Year 1 classes will exit the building by the doors near the amphitheatre. We aim to minimise disruption and major works will be done as far as possible during holidays. However, there may well be occasions when at short notice things have to change, for example, Friday Assemblies may be cancelled when the Middle Hall windows are being replaced. I will endeavour to give as much notice as possible to parents but I ask you all please to bear with us. It will be well worth it!
4. PLAYING BEFORE/AFTER SCHOOL: Because of the building work we are asking that you arrive at school no earlier than 8:15am and leave the playground as swiftly as possible after school and AT THE VERY LATEST by 3:30pm, for this term. We do not want children playing either in the back playground or on the trim trail whilst the school is a building site. I have agreed with the builders that at these times they can press on with the work. Once again I feel I have to remind parents that your children are your responsibility before and after school. Staff are on duty from 8:30am
5. SAINSBURY’S/TESCO VOUCHERS: Please send in any vouchers to the office asap. We are eager to get as many as possible this year. We really do make good use of them.
6. MARATHON RUNNERS: Thanks to everyone who sponsored Fiona Westwood who ran the London marathon in just over four hours, raising money for the Stroke Association. Simon Lewis also ran another marathon over the holidays. Staff are just getting fitter and fitter: preparing for sports day, I think!
7. PARENTMAIL: Just to update you: We are currently developing this facility which means we can e-mail newsletters, trip letters, give information regarding after school clubs etc. and also collect online payments for dinner money or trips. Hopefully this will be in place very soon. Dorothy Bentil
