Healthy Living Week and a Black History "Hands- On Museum" at Ravenstone

Last week everyone in the school community was invited to join the early morning aerobics class and to taste the after- school Smoothies. In school time a circuit of exercises was enjoyed by all the children. Contributions were made to all these activities so that we could support Yameriga School, our link school in Ghana.
Running alongside these events was a Black History ‘museum’ made up entirely of artefacts and pictures lent by staff, friends and families of the school. All the children came to explore such diverse objects as Carnival Costumes, spices and home-made cricket bats as well as photographs of grandparents and old school reports! It was exciting to see the museum grow as the week went by as children added to the collection. The children also had a chance to discuss issues surrounding Black History. Parents were invited to the museum after school.
It was a really fantastic week with parents supporting and helping throughout the week and can be summed up by one child’s comment        “ This is all about me.”
