Absence reporting and symptoms

From September 6th 2021 (Start of new academic year) the majoirty of Covid restrictions have been removed by the government. The main being the 'bubble' status and need for children to self isolate. The table below outlines the current procedures for reporting absence and when not to attend school. If you have any questions or concerns please contact the office. 

Covid-19 related pupil absence - A quick reference for parents

 

COVID SYMPTOMS:

 

HIGH TEMPERATURE – this means you feel hot to touch on your chest or back (you do not need to measure your temperature but if you have a thermometer this would be 37.8 or greater)

Has a NEW CONTINUOUS COUGH - this means coughing a lot more than usual in an hour, or 3 or more coughing episodes in 24 hours

Has LOSS OF OR CHANGE TO SENSE OF SMELL OR TASTE – this means you’ve noticed that you cannot smell or taste anything

Return to school when…

My child has Covid-19 symptoms:

 

DO NOT COME TO SCHOOL AND BOOK A TEST

Contact school to inform us. Either do this by phoning the office or email info@ravenstone.wandsworth.sch.uk

·       Self-isolate the whole household for 10 days.

·       Get a test.

·       Inform the school immediately about test result

If you are unsure about your child’s symptoms you can refer to information at: https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/symptoms/

The test comes back negative.

My child tests positive for Covid-19

DO NOT COME TO SCHOOL

Contact school to inform us either do this by phoning the office or email info@ravenstone.wandsworth.sch.uk

·       Review with the school after 10 days of isolation.

·       Self-isolate the whole household for 10 days (unless double vaccinated or under 18)

·       The school will take guidance from Public Health England on what steps to take next.

When they feel better after a minimum of 10 days.

 

My child falls ill with symptoms not linked with Covid-19

FOLLOW THE USUAL SCHOOL ABSENCE POLICY by reporting this to info@ravenstone.wandsworth.sch.uk, calling the school office or reporting via ParentMail.

Once your child feels better and/or symptoms have cleared

Someone in my household has Covid-19 symptoms

You child can come to school and does not need to self isolate

 

 

Someone in my household tests positive for Covid-19

You child can come to school and does not need to self isolate

 

Track & Trace has identified my child as having had close contact with a confirmed case of Covid-19

DO NOT COME TO SCHOOL

Contact the school and let them know the dates given to you by track and trace

The child completes the period of isolation without showing any Covid-19 symptoms

My child has travelled and has to self-isolate for a period of quarantine

Do not request holiday absence in term-time unless in a family emergency

Consider quarantine requirements and FCO advice when booking trips.

Self-isolate the whole household.

The quarantine period has been completed.
