Ravenstone Primary School

Nursery

The Nursery at Ravenstone is an integral part of the school.

Situated on the ground floor within the school building, children have easy access to a large outdoor space and a safe and secure garden the Nursery children have sole use of.

Both the indoor and outdoor areas are considered of equal importance in providing the children with a range of opportunities that are relevant and engage them in learning. Children are encouraged to be independent and become confident, sharing their ideas and experiences with others.

Our approach to teaching is child-centred where every child is an individual, with their own special skills and talents to be valued. It is important that every child has a happy and positive first experience of school and one where they feel safe and confident to express themselves and take the next steps in their learning and development.

During their school day, children in our Nursery enjoy a range of activities, including teacher-led carpet time, story time, and full access to the rest of the school's resources including dance and music lessons. Their education is assessed against the EYFS curriculum. A snack is provided, and lunch is available to those children staying a full day.

Admission Criteria

Children are allocated a place in our Nursery, after they have turned three, in accordance with the criteria outlined below:

  • Siblings in the school
  • Distance from the school
  • A commitment to applying for our Reception once school age is reached

The Future

By joining our Nursery, you are showing a genuine commitment to applying to our Reception once your children becomes statutory school age.

We know that early intervention is vital and because of this we hope that any child in our Nursery will transfer into our Reception and experience a full education at Ravenstone from the age of 3 to 11 as this will provide them with the best possible start in life.

How do I apply?

Children are admitted to our Nursery in the September following their third birthday. For children who turn three during the academic year, there may be the possibility of starting Nursery at the start of the following term if places are available. Children are expected to spend one year in Nursery and will have had their fourth birthday before starting Reception.

To apply for a place in the Nursery, please complete our online form.
